This sounds like it should be on "News of the Dumb"

This sounds almost funny but it is not, seeing how two guys went to the hospital because of it. Basically, picture this: Two seperate groups are hunting turkeys and using turkey calls to lure them in. One group hears the other groups call and assuming its a turkey, just starts firing in that direction. That right there is not too damn smart, firing when you can't even see it. As you can probably guess, the first group gets shot by the second, and the second group takes off and then only later do the call police.

Not only an example of irresponsible hunting (and just being a dumbass as well) but not even trying to give them first aid and calling for help right away? Yikes.

Fonda spit on in KC!

Hey, its good when KC makes the national news, but not for crap like this. If you have not already heard about this, a guy spit in Jane Fonda's face when she was in town at the Unity Temple to sign copies of her new book. The guy apparently was upset about Fonda protesting the Vietnam war.

I have always disliked Fonda for the way she opposed the war (like visiting Hanoi), although I don't deny her right to be against the war.

But this loser is just as bad in my opinion. He was so brave he spit in the face of a 50 or 60 something year old woman and then ran. Way to go there tough guy! You really do the vets proud with stupid crap like that.

Paseo Bridge to close soon

If you take I29/35 to work you better start looking for an alternate route soon. The Paseo Bridge, which carries I29/I35 over the Missouri River will be closed from early next month until November for a major rebuilding project that is sorely needed. Some alternates are the Heart of America bridge on Highway 9, or the Choteau trafficway bridge. Or even I435.

And speaking of I435, that bridge over the Missouri River will be rebuilt next summer, although it will not be closed, traffic will probably just run head to head while they rebuild it.

Watch out on Missouri 7 south of Lees Summit

Check out this article about stepped up traffic enforcement on Missouri 7 near Lake Lotawana. The article talks about the stepped up enforcement. The scary part is the part where they mention one girl getting killed and another seriously injured when their vehicle was hit by an SUV doing 95 mph. What the hell? I have driven that road several times, lots of hills and curves and a fair amount of traffic. Anyone would drive that fast on that road is either drunk or a complete freakin moron. Since some people seem to lose about 20 IQ points when they get behind the wheel of an SUV to begin with, this guy must not have had much left. Driving that fast on I435 wouldn't be smart, let alone highway 7. Lets hope justice prevails and that dumbass gets sued for a few million (and loses) and spends about 20 years in jail for vehicular manslaughter. He deserves it from the sounds of it (unless there is more info that I don't have that contributed to the crash).

Some interstate driving basics

I have noticed from driving on the interstates the past few weeks that apparently some of you are not educated on how to drive on them, so I thought I would do my part to help and give you some pointers.

1.) The left most lane is referred to as the "fast lane" or "passing lane". This lane is there for people to pass in and then to get over to let others by. You will notice its not called
a.) hang out forever while putting along at 60 lane.
b.) lumber along in a semi while passing another semi that is lumbering along lane
c.) the putt putt lane while traffic stacks up behind you for a quarter mile lane. What the hell did you think those people behind you were, a parade?
d.) the dawdle along because I like driving in this lane alot lane.

2.) Slowing way down or even coming to a complete stop while entering the freeway (except when traffic on that freeway is slow or stopped) is a dumb idea. The point of a ramp to an interstate or expressway is to allow you to speed up to the speed of traffic while entering it. So if you stop or slow way down it is not only harder for you to get on, but also those behind you. Oh, and a reminder, the accelerator is what makes the car go faster, its the taller and slimmer pedal usually the petal that is the farthest to the right in the drivers side footwell.

3.) The whole point of an interstate is easier and more steady travel. Other than in rush hour, you should almost never have to hit the brake petal, unless because of those described above. If you feel the need to brake constantly, I would suggest side streets or even the little car ride at Worlds of Fun. Stay the hell off the interstate.

4.) If you are in the fast lane, and you notice either
a.) Traffic is stacked up behind you (not talking about rush hour here either) like you are
the grand marshall of your own parade, you either need to speed up or move to the right. If the shoulder is to the right, pull over and count to ten million and then start up again.
b.) Everyone is now using the lanes to right of you to pass, in other words, the whole traffic pattern on the interstate has changed becuase of you

then you need to go to the nearest DMV office and turn in your license. You are too damn dumb to be driving. Take the bus.

Hope that helps.
